Buggy progress has stalled several times over the last 3 years its ben in progress (happens when you buy a house, have too many hobbies, spend money on airsoft etc etc) but maybe, just maybe, this summer it will see the beach, or river, or somewhere muddy:
Chassis completed, blasted, painted, most stuff reassembled:
It was at this stage over 6 months ago, but the engine turned out to be a dud, it was confused and tended to mix all the oil, water and compressoin together in one big cloud of crap. Replaced the engine and test drove it for the first time, about 3 months ago. Then turned out the trans was toast as well, and the 1-2 clutch was locked up, meaning that no matter what you selected, be it neutral or reverse, it always drove forwards. Test drove anyway, huge box of laughs, showed lots of potential and inevitably ran over a neighbours fence. Finally, another transmission later, i now have reverse and neutral as well, and can continue finishing it off. Sheet alloy guards, proper wiring, couple of necessary gauges and make that spaghetti of a wiring lom disappear so that the back seat can get put in
Its all tightly packed, managed to cram a decent size free-flow muffler under the seat area with some heat shielding for good luck, the whole exhuast system is about a metre long but still fairly quiet.
Still quite a bit to get down before christmas, and fixing the unusal crop of teething troubles, but at least i can now drive it in and out of the shed to work on it.
