Its a complicated situation, and ammo is in a constant state of flux you see. Occassionally a warp in the path of ammo through the time-space continum reacts with the flow of the floor, and such events have ben noted by observers to occur in direct inverse proportion to the calibre of the ammuntion involved.

I think it is because its going faster on entry point the on exit point. There are many experiaments where they prove that the faster the bullet or bb in this case hits the object or glass makes a smaller hole to a digree where the hole is only as big as the bullet or bb. so if it were to go slow then it would make a big hole with lots of cracks or even rebound off the glass.
