ATA Rules and such Empty ATA Rules and such

This is intended to be a as complete as possible collection of ATA rules and admin stuff.

Who is an ATA member? An ATA member is someone who has paid the membership fee.

How do you become an ATA member? By attending 3 ATA games, being accepted by the current members and paying the club membership fee.

Before a person becomes a member current members are given a chance to voice any complaints. If the complaints are sound then membership will not be granted to the prospective member.

Club membership fees: The fee for joining ATA is $10. This is coupled with the yearly $10 fee. This means you pay $20 the year you join followed by $10 every year after that. Unlike many other clubs ATA does not have feild fees.

If you join in the second half of the year you only pay half the fee for that year. The yearly $10 fee is due in by the end of February and nonpayment of the yearly fee indictates a wish to leave the club (unless an arrangement is made due to circumstances).

Age limits: ATA accepts younger members into the club. We run our games using a marshal system, ensuring that all games are supervised by an adult.

New Zealand law prohibits people under the age of 18 without a gun license from owning and airsoft gun. They may not transport or use an airsoft gun without adult supervision. For more information see: www.police.govt.nz

    Gun limits:

ATA typically plays on smaller feilds than most other clubs. It is recommended that you use semi-automatic airsoft guns no higher than 350.

    The Committee:

The committee are a group of 8 ATA members voted in at the Annual General Meeting (held annually). These 8 members do the general admin stuff. There is a club representative, club treasurer, club secretary, and probably a couple of others that I forget now, I am sure they will remind me!

    Games:

ATA games are organised by the committee to ensure a constant schedule of games and to avoid clashes. Anybody can run an ATA gameday, they just put forward their idea to the committee with as much detail as possible and if the committee is happy with the game then it'll get scheduled in. If you need help or want information, just talk to a committee member.

    More information to come.

    Committee Duties

The committee does the general admin stuff. Anything can be brought before the committee, just pass it onto a committee member who will put it before the committee. The committee then does a vote/comments on the proposal or request. As not all committee members are on all the time there is generally a five day period for committee members to respond.

The Committee helps organise game dates: This is hopefully explained in the post above.

The Committee is sole source of ATA disciplinary stuff: If a ATA member's behaviour, on or off the feild is not up to scratch and complaints have been laid with the committee then it is up the committee to do something about it. Each situation is unique and there are several different options available: Non-attendance of a certain number of games, contacting parents, and if the player does not improve then expulsion from the club are the main methods but ATA recognises that each situation is different and may require other approaches.

Stuff that can get you in trouble:

On the feild: Dangerous/careless/reckless/thoughtless/stupid or disrespectful behaviour. This includes stuff like firing guns in a safe-zone, firing guns at people without masks, firing within your minimum engagement distance, or generally being unsafe.

Off the feild: Illegal or negative stuff to do with airsoft. This includes stuff that while it may not be illegal or dangerous, could bring the sport of airsoft into disrepute, meaning that you'll wreck it for not only ATA but for every airsoft player in New Zealand. DON'T: Carry you gun around in public, joke around with your gun, use your gun to threaten others, when transporting your gun make sure it is secure and covered. Remember, it's just a game, one that can be accidentally seen as something serious, let's keep the risk of people getting the wrong picture down to a minimun.

Within the club: Anti-social behaviour is strongly discouraged. Frankly, it's a waste of time and the only person who looks like an idiot is the person doing the insulting or acting up. If you have a greviance, talk to the committee. The best way to get back at someone is by beating them on the feild. But if you can't play along then why are you playing? Airsoft is a team game and requires the spirit of sportsmanship to survive.
